Your heart is telling you the truth—you were made for more. If we start in Genesis, the first thing we see is that we are created to rule (Genesis 1:26). We were meant to care for the Earth as it was originally created (Psalm 115:16). There is a day approaching when all things will be made new and all of the “more” we were made for will be revealed (Revelation 21:5, 5:10). Until then, I want to share with you a hopeful expectation that will not be disappointed. And here’s the good news about the gospel, there is so much more than we could ever ask, hope, or imagine. You were made for abundantly more. There is more to Jesus than most of us have been led to believe, and He has much more in store for you. It’s time to unveil your heart to the abundant, transforming life Jesus has for you.
There’s a deep knowing that we were made for more. We desperately seek it out and yet nothing can satisfy our longing. We want the fix. We want to fit in. We want the latest model and the greatest product. We want everything to feel right. So why haven’t we found it? What is essential to our design and purpose? It’s a dangerous game of roulette to place your heart’s hope in anything this world has to offer. We wander and wonder why we feel so displaced in a fallen world that was never meant for us, like foreigners navigating opposition that was never intended for us. In order to know where we’re going, we have to understand the story in which we currently find ourselves. We live in the midst of a love story caught up in a world at war between two kingdoms and currently between two advents.
He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the reason why we have breath in our lungs. He is the very anchor for our souls and our greatest hope. He is our savior, our counselor, our warrior, our friend. He is faithful and forever true. He is the creator of everything and everyone we love. My hope is that Jesus is who you encounter personally through Chosen To Reign. There is no one like Him. Let all that God calls us to create here point you towards Him.

Preparing the Bride for the Return of Christ

I’m an event manager turned biblical content creator for modern-day women. My day job and my calling are one and the same—preparing the bride. My ultimate goal is to help women grow closer to Jesus Christ and realize their purpose through Him. So, how did I get here? Here’s my story in short.
Hey girl, I’m Heather, the founder of Chosen To Reign.
I grew up in small-town Iowa on a pig farm with my parents and younger brother. Our family attended church weekly but I was never aware of the close and tangible relationship that was available with Christ. I always felt like there was more to Christianity that couldn’t be confined to a one-hour weekly service and a set of rules to follow. Despite prayers and church service, my life seemed constantly overwhelmed with discord and disappointments. I felt alone, unsure why the world had so much opposition, and unaware of my role to play. The answer, I thought, was to leave it all behind and attend college.
Childhood
I went to Iowa State University and earned my bachelor's degree in Event Management. At graduation, I had full intentions to work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a huge passion for me. But for reasons I didn’t understand at the time, God put on my heart that this wasn’t my purpose. Being the first in my family to attend a 4-year university and having wrestled with performance my whole life, walking away from such a great opportunity wasn’t easy. What was I supposed to tell people when they asked what my plans were? “I’m going to read about Jesus” didn’t really sound like a life plan to my relatives. I needed confirmation from God and had so many questions filling my heart.
Make-A-Wish
There are many ways to hear from Jesus in your everyday life. One way is listening for His truth and personality in the words of people around you. For me, Christ chose to speak through one of my Christian mentors during a summer pool outing after graduation. As we spoke, he began answering all of my inner questions and prayer requests. To an outsider, it looked like a simple conversation at a pool, but for me, it was the confirmation I was looking for and the first step in accepting the calling on my life and a deeper relationship with Jesus. Following this conversation, I experienced the personality of Christ in two additional ways that day: the audible voice of Christ (link to the complete story), and a final confirmation written in the clouds when I arrived home depicting the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This day solidified my calling and started a pursuit of Christ which remains the heart of Chosen to Reign.

At this time, I was also competing in pageants to speak to women about self-confidence and raise money for Make-A-Wish. I thought pursuing an earthly crown would perfectly position me to make a difference in young women’s lives and speak biblical truth from a platform. Eliminated in the first round, I was part of the group of women that had worked for months toward this goal and in minutes that hope had been pushed aside. We were left to watch the remaining contestants, comparing ourselves to them and wondering how we could “be better”. Gazing at the remaining contestants answering questions on stage I felt Christ say “turn around”. Following His command, I began to realize the sadness of the incredible women surrounding me. I saw their defeated faces and heard the hushed comments of self-doubt and internal judgment. I realized it was never about the earthly crown at all. It was about seeing the disparity between each woman’s self-worth and how Jesus truly views each one of us.

The most important relationship we will ever have is our own personal relationship with Jesus. Choosing to believe he is who he claims to be - the Son of God and the only way to salvation - and receiving him by faith as your Lord and Savior is the most vital act anyone will ever do. We were made for more and we were made for life. Jesus is the answer to it all. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
Here is a simple prayer if you have not yet given your life to Jesus and invited him into your’s:
Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father. I choose now to turn from my sins, my self-centeredness, and every part of my life that keeps me from knowing you and experiencing the fullness of life lived with you and through you. I choose you, Jesus. I want to have a personal relationship with you. I give myself to you. I receive your forgiveness and ask you to take your rightful place in my life as my Savior and Lord. Come reign in my heart, fill me with your love and your life. Thank you, Jesus. Now Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit who will guide me and show me your ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
