The Secret to Dealing with Doubt

Confession: I am completely terrified, excited, and nervous all in one!

Why? Because I'm chasing a dream that I believe in with my entire mind, body, and soul. It is bold, and maybe even crazy, but I’m going for it no matter what the critics say. This dream requires investing a lot of money and a lot of time. I would be lying if I didn’t say I consistently think to myself, “Will this even work? Will anyone even benefit from what I have to say?”

And it's true, I’m no expert in women empowerment, I’m purely driven by passion and purpose and the possibility of making a difference in the world. But I also have those glimmering moments each day when I realize, “What if this does work? What if this movement makes the difference in one girl’s life? What if this is just the beginning of something amazing?” So I’m pressing onward despite the rollercoaster emotions and moments of self doubt.

Today I felt a new thought pop into my mind, “Why can’t I seem to find someone from my generation speaking to our peers about pursuing a God given purpose?”

And my answer came later that day as I read my Esther Bible Study written by Beth Moore. Her words hit my question spot on:

“Sometimes God wants to show us what we can do rather than let us find someone who can do it for us. Sometimes you and I are looking for someone to stand up and do exactly what God wants us to do.” – Beth Moore

I have a burning desire to contribute to this world as a trail blazer and a philanthropist. I want to create change. I want to inspire. And I want to empower women to know their worth and live out their purpose.

Does any of this hit home? Do you have a dream you want to pursue, or maybe you are pursuing a dream you're nervous about sharing but you know in your heart you have to take a chance? Whatever that may be, I want to encourage you to step out and take that leap of faith. There is no such thing as "the perfect time" so stop wasting time waiting and just leap. Invest the time, do the research, make a commitment to the dream, and seek out killer mentors who exemplify what you admire and have gone before you. If you can learn a step or two from their previous mistakes as a newbie and gain their guidance, you are already ahead of the game. I believe you’ve got what it takes to make this dream a reality. Despite the doubt, be bold, believe in yourself, and go for it anyway!
